Face's A Verb

2021/Short
Producer

A narrative short developed at the FIRST International Film Festival Training Camp.
Face's A Verb was developed through the FIRST International Film Festival Training Camp, one of China’s most influential platforms for discovering and mentoring emerging filmmakers. The film explores how two individuals can share the same physical space while inhabiting opposing emotional realities, revealing the quiet tension between intimacy and distance. Rather than centering on dramatic conflict, the story focuses on restrained emotion, everyday interaction, and the subtle fractures within close relationships.

As producer, I led fundraising, production coordination, and festival strategy. The project was financed through grassroots crowdfunding and filmed across multiple cities during a period of heightened uncertainty.Despite its small scale, the film traveled widely on the international festival circuit, receiving directing and narrative awards and being selected by major queer and independent film festivals, affirming the global resonance of its intimate, locally rooted storytelling. As my first small-budget indie film project, this film represents the kind of work I value most — culturally specific, emotionally honest, and quietly groundbreaking.
