Journey to the West MBTI Game

2024/AI Game
Project Lead@Shanghai Film

Reimagining the 60-year-old masterpiece "Havoc in Heaven" as a personalized, AI-driven interactive experience.

Debuting at WAIC 2024, this interactive game was another strategic collaboration between Shanghai Film and StepFun. By integrating the classic 1964 animation style with modern MBTI assessments, the project invited users to upload their photos and embark on a personalized "corporate promotion" journey through the heavenly court of the Monkey King.

Award

- Generated 90,000+ interactions, becoming a viral benchmark for "AI + Heritage" innovation.

- Drove a 35% surge in brand engagement among Gen Z (ages 16-29), successfully bridging the gap between classic IP and digital culture.

The system utilized Step-series large models to fuse image understanding, style transfer, and real-time plot generation. Unlike static H5 games, it analyzed user photos to generate unique, stylized avatars in the film's distinct art style and provided real-time feedback in the character's voice, ensuring a "one thousand faces for one thousand people" experience. We completed development in just 20 days, focusing heavily on model training. The core challenge was the scarcity of training data from the original analog film; we utilized the Step-1X image generation model to achieve high-quality, authentic artistic reproduction using extremely limited digital assets.
