Mnemosyne

2024–2025/VR Interactive
Co-producer

A VR work fusing virtual reality, live performance, and Chinese opera.
Mnemosyne is an immersive project that transcends the boundaries of traditional performance. Inspired by Tang Xianzu’s literary masterpiece The Peony Pavilion (牡丹亭), the work invites audiences to step inside a physical, temple-like installation.
In this space, the lines between reality and the virtual world blur. Real actors, holographic imagery, and classical music merge into a single poetic form, creating a dreamlike state where viewers can physically inhabit the narrative and experience the fluidity between “illusion” and “awakening.”

This project represents a complex technical milestone in mixed reality. It seamlessly merges 360° ink-painting VR animation, 180° live-action film, and real-time stage performance into one continuous flow. Unlike passive viewing, audience members sit within the set, interacting with the story through their own movement and gaze, making them an integral part of the performance.
